Detecting diseases by analysis of protein function ?

We investigate transport- and binding functions of albumin in the blood with the aim to improve the diagnostic of life-threatening diseases by early detection and thus increase the chance of survival of the patients.

Albumin is the most abundant protein in human blood and fulfills a variety of functions. Beside others, it is responsible for transport of hydrophobic molecules like fatty acids or drugs.

This transport function is disturbed in numerous diseases.
